Callen-Lorde Health Center Keeps LGBTQ+ New Yorkers in the Pink

by Robert Valin

Queerful Co-Founder Robert Valin sits down with Project Manager Finn Brigham and Senior Director of Development and Communications Donnie Roberts of Callen-Lorde Community Health Center to talk about their long history of providing LGBTQ+ New Yorkers with high-quality healthcare, regardless of insurance or ability to pay. Founded in 1969, Callen-Lorde established their flagship clinic in 1998 in Chelsea, and for 25 years has grown to offer multiple sites in NYC offering free or low-cost primary care, behavioral care, and therapy, either in-person, at the mobile unit, or via telehealth services. They even help gay youth with their free Health Outreach to Teens (HOTT) program. Callen-Lorde is dedicated to raising funds through charity events to continue providing services to uninsured and underinsured New Yorkers. Q
