Greetings Queerful visitors!   My name is Chauncey Dandridge.  I’m a veteran NYC DJ with over twenty years of experience in selecting sounds for various bars, clubs and nightlife events from West Village to East Village, Hell’s Kitchen to Chelsea, Astoria to Brooklyn.   I’ve worked with almost every drag queen that has come through the New York City scene and have lent my time and skills to countless fundraisers through the years.  I have also been a DJ for Folsom Street East, Urban Bear NYC Street Fair and many more.  Currently, I hold a residency at The Stonewall Inn where I produce monthly shows, tech cabarets and drag shows and DJ weekend parties.  I’ve produced and played internationally in Lisbon and Montreal as well.  Recently, I’ve become a recording artist and have had some success on Spotify with my duet partner Van Hechter from Montreal.  Check out “Disco Brother” when you get a chance!

The reason I’m here is because I’ve been hired to create a monthly playlist featuring some of my favorite tracks out there, songs that inspire me and find their way into my set-lists.  I’m a big cheerleader for local and international independent queer musicians and artists and try to incorporate them into my musical flow regularly.  

This month, in the spirit of Pride month, my curated playlist features a heavy batch of queer artists along with many other songs that will introduce to you the sound I appreciate.  I started hanging out in the clubs in the early to mid 90s in New York City and that will be obvious in my love for piano driven house, dark and soulful beats and celebratory lyrics and vocal stylings.  

Every year for Pride, I decide on a specific song recently released that will appear in pretty much all of my sets, whether I’m playing for a young or old crowd, twinks or bears, queer or not so queer crowd.  This year I’ve chosen “Different Kinds Of People” by the fantastic Bimini, a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 1.  It totally merges my preferred sonic sensibilities with thought provoking lyrics that sneak into your mind.   It’s the first track in the brand new monthly QUEERFUL Spotify playlist.   I hope you enjoy my selections for this month.  They are all songs that have recently found their way into my sets that I weave within my usual arsenal of classic house inspired pop, moombahton, new jack swing, neo disco and more!
