Queerful political correspondent Travis Bone discusses two historic political firsts for our community: the first Congressional race between an out gay Republican and an out gay Democrat this past fall, and George Santos winning that race to become the first out gay Republican elected to Congress. Unfortunately, the facts of the personal and professional backstory that got Santos elected didn’t end up being facts at all. But as Travis points out, with more queer folks running for (and winning) office, we have the opportunity to do better in making sure the best interests of our community are served.
